Areas of specialism:

One year programme of capacity building that is accredited at the end of the year. If the programme is not completed in first year, groups can pick up at the same stage in the next year.

Extent of support to organisations:

Mostly free – our capacity building is funded and we have no need to charge. Individual organisations don’t pay. If targeting a particular borough, the council will contribute.

How support is delivered:

Capacity building officers make a contract, then visit and complete a questionnaire, and subsequently visit regularly to continue support.

Number of groups seen in the last 12 months [to June 2006]:

Pan London 121 groups.

80 members of staff. 27 national capacity building officers.
